Carsten Pieper Juneteenth! Black Voices Matter! Swiss based label Les Disques Bongo Joe throwing in this solidarity compilation of "black artists and mixed bands" for the good cause. Most of the tracks here could be filed under "World Music" with an emphasis on Africa (no surprise there). Favorite track: Pixvae - La Fuga.

about

We cannot stay silent in the current context. Les Disques Bongo Joe have always favored openness and tolerance by making space for artists from all around the world. Black artists and mixed bands take an important place in the history of our label, as they do in the history of music in general. Whether through our work of reissue or through our current projects, many have accepted to work with us and it is our responsibility to position ourselves alongside them in this fight.

This compilation highlights the Black artists and mixed bands on the label. With no fixed price, the entirety of the proceeds will go to swiss activist associations. Because yes, racism, discrimination and systemic oppression are also part of the day-to-day life of many people in Switzerland
